Five steps, in order

How Hill Wallet works

The cut below is the example plan: the cushion at the bottom, forty monthly milestones above it and the projected date on top.

  • Forty monthly milestones of $900
  • Goal date, August 2029
  • Milestone 7 of 40 reached
  • Milestone 8, $820 to go

Step 1

Enter your numbers

Your target home price, down payment percent, closing costs (a percent or dollars, since they depend on your home and area), move in costs and monthly expenses. The tiles below are the example plan.

Home price$260,000
Down payment10 percent ($26,000)
Closing costs3 percent ($7,800)
Move in costs$2,200
Monthly expenses$2,600

Step 2

Fill the emergency cushion first

Your first deposits go to a cushion of one to six months of expenses (base camp in the app), $7,800 on the example plan. If a $650 repair comes out of it, your house savings stay put and your next deposits refill it first.

Step 3

Save toward equal monthly milestones

Hill Wallet splits your total into equal milestones, about one a month at your pace. The app calls them switchbacks. At $900 each, the eighth is reached at $7,200 and the fortieth at $36,000. The list shows when you reached past ones and what's left on the current one.

7 of 40 reached

  1. Milestone 7, September 2026
  2. Milestone 8, $820 to go
  3. Milestone 9, $8,100
  4. Milestone 10, $9,000
  5. Milestone 11, $9,900
  6. Milestone 12, $10,800

The number of milestones depends on your total and your monthly amount.

Step 4

Log each deposit

Move the money yourself, then open Log and type the amount, date and an optional note, in about ten seconds. Hill Wallet marks any milestone you've reached and updates your date. It never sees your bank.

A phone showing the Log a deposit form with $850, September 22, 2026 and the note Paycheck transfer.
Entry: $850, September 22, 2026, Paycheck transfer, logged by Jordan.
One deposit, start to finish. Example plan.

Logged. Milestone 7 of 40 reached. Date moved up to August 2029.

A phone showing the message Logged, switchback 7 of 40 cleared, summit moved up to August 2029.
Saved. Example plan.

Step 5

Watch your projected date

The date is what's left divided by your average over the last three months, so one big deposit nudges it instead of jumping it. Save less and it moves later; save more and it moves up.

$29,620 left at $850 a month is 35 months, August 2029. Projection from example numbers.

Climb Alerts are account notices, never ads. A reminder on the day you pick, a note when a switchback clears, your sign in code, a renewal notice. Nothing else, ever.

Your phone number is never sold, rented or shared for marketing. It is used only to send the Hill Wallet Climb Alerts you asked for.
